Accountant/Deputy Treasurer

The City of Jonesville is currently accepting applications for an Accountant/Deputy Treasurer.  The position is under the direction of the City Manager.  The individual would support the finance and treasury functions of the City, assisting the contract Finance Director with budgeting and audit and the contract Treasurer with property tax collection. 

The ideal candidate would have a demonstrated record of fiscal stewardship.  Municipal experience is preferred, but not required; the City will provide training to qualified individuals transitioning to the public sector. 

Work takes place in a fast-paced environment and requires an individual who can multi-task and manage competing deadlines with a meticulous attention to detail. Strong analytical, computer, writing and speaking skills are required.  The City seeks a candidate who will contribute to an environment of outstanding service to taxpayers, co-workers, and elected officials.

Salary and Benefits
Salary range for this full-time position is $24.62 to $32.13 per hour, with the starting wage dependent upon qualifications.  The City offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, vision and disability insurance; a defined contribution retirement program; vacation, sick, and personal leave; and twelve paid holidays.

Minimum Qualifications
An associate’s degree in accounting or finance is required; a bachelor’s degree is preferred.  A minimum of two years of experience in accounting or financial management is required.  Municipal experience is preferred, but not required.  Certification as a Notary Public is desired.

Police Officer

The Jonesville Police Department is seeking one motivated, community-oriented individual to join our team as a full -time Police Officer.

Maintenance Specialist - Department of Public Works

The City is currently accepting applications for a Maintenance Specialist in the Department of Public Works.  Individuals with heavy equipment experience and a Commercial Drivers License are preferred.  The successful candidate must obtain a Class “B” CDL with airbrake endorsement within 6 months of hire

This position is under the direction of the Public Works Superintendent.  Essential functions of the job include maintenance, repair and construction of the City streets, parks, and water facilities; operating equipment to complete winter maintenance, including plowing and spreading salt and sand; perform yard waste and leaf pickup; performs building and grounds maintenance for various City facilities; operates a variety of equipment from hand tools to heavy equipment and vehicles; and assures that equipment is properly serviced and maintained.  The successful candidate will have experience in construction, maintenance, or repair and will represent the City in a highly professional manner.

The position is full time, with frequent overtime for emergency and/or scheduled work.  The City offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, vision and disability insurance; a defined contribution retirement program; vacation, sick, and personal leave; and twelve paid holidays.  New hires are eligible for health insurance and retirement contributions beginning on the first day of employment.  The wage range for the position is $19.82 to $25.86/hour, with the stating wage dependent upon qualifications. 

A high school diploma, or a combination of a GED, training and experience is required.  In addition to a CDL, a minimum of three years of experience in a related field is required.  Training is provided for State of Michigan water operator licenses.  Candidates with an S-3 water certification are eligible for promotion.
